(Now It’s Winter But Looks Like Soon Spring Will Come)

Low End Project

Why is it that so many Korean rom-com dramas have the same exact plot? Rich, good looking chaebol falls for poor girl who only looks ugly because she has bad hair no make-up and dresses poorly. AND he treats her very badly, AND she can’t help but fall for him even though it goes against her own better judgment. Oh, and there’s another guy who is more likable but she never gets anywhere with him. Examples are legion – High End Crush, My Lovely Sam Soon, Fated to Love You, Cinderella’s Sister, Goong, Secret Garden, Birth of a Beauty, My Girl, My Lovable Girl, Moorim School… even my favorite Coffee Prince (although I still maintain it’s based on the Brazilian classic “Grande Sertão Veredas” by Guimarães Rosa but that’s another story).

But the real question is – why do we like them so much? Is it the typical character development, the quality of the story line, the superior acting, and of course the beautiful people? All of the above, plus the OST. Ah yes, the music…

Tearliner is one of the best music producers in the classic K-drama rom-com genre. He is an expert at pulling together musicians that know how to convey the feelings and message in a romantic drama to best promote the feeling of the story. Here working with Low End Project (please check out the other songs from this OST!) he manages to convey the pathos and longing of the storyline… which is quite beautiful, I hope you agree.

nag-yeob ddeo-reo-jin ja-ri-e

yeo-rin sae i-p’i do-da

sang-cheo-reul eo-ru-man-ji-go

seo-t’un sa-rang kkeut-nae-go

ddeo-nan sa-ram ja-ri-e

sae-ro-un sa-rang-i un-da

ji-geum-eun kyeo-ul-i-ji-man kod bom-i ol keot ka-t’a

kod bom-i, kod bom-i ol keot ka-t’a

ji-geum-eun kyeo-ul-i-ji-man kod bom-i ol keot ka-t’a

ji-geum-eun kyeo-ul-i-ji-man kod bom-i ol keot ka-t’a

kod bom-i, kod bom-i ol keot ka-t’a

cha-ga-un ba-ram-i bu-reo

shi-geo-beo-rin ma-eum-e

nat-seon on-gi-ga dol-go

ja-jeun han-sum-e nur-lyeo

ja-ga-jin ma-eum-e

p’u-geun-han pa-ram-i pun-da

ji-geum-eun kyeo-ul-i-ji-man kod bom-i ol keot ka-t’a

kod bom-i, kod bom-i ol keot ka-t’a

Translation:
Low End Project – Now It’s Winter But Looks Like Soon Spring Will Come

Now it’s winter, but looks like soon spring will come
Now it’s winter, but looks like soon spring will come
Soon spring, soon spring will come

Fallen leaves on the ground
Tender new leaves sprouting
Touching and stroke the wound

Wretched love is ending
Leaving this place
A new love is coming

Now it’s winter, but looks like soon spring will come
Soon spring, soon spring will come

Now it’s winter, but looks like soon spring will come
Now it’s winter, but looks like soon spring will come
Soon spring, soon spring will come

A cold wind blows
Growing colder in my heart
The unfamiliar warmth of stone

Frequent sighs pressed
In my tiny heart
A heartwarming wind blows

Now it’s winter, but looks like soon spring will come
Now it’s winter, but looks like soon spring will come
Soon spring, soon spring will come
